The Showcase South Asia Signature Series is a one-off project that has been launched as part of EMI Pakistan’s Birthday Celebration on New Year’s Day, 1st January, 2016. It also marks the re-launch of EMI Pakistan’s website.
The Series in a Nutshell
The signature series consists of 20 volumes, each featuring popular tracks from the top artists in the EMI Repertoire. It aims at bridging the gap between the older generation and the new by bringing something rich and unique to the table. Most tracks in each album have some “Hot”, ‘Popular” titles, which are the signature works of the respective Artistes. However, each album comments also include some “obscure gems,” which were unable to see commercial exposure, but in most cases are technically far superior to the featured hits.
Resurrecting a Musical Legacy
Showcase South Asia signature series, though something of a mouthful, is utterly fitting given the phonetic commonality that Urdu shares with others languages in the region. In a time where people are often taunted for their differences, this series aims to bring people together by binding them with one common element; music. EMI Pakistan should be applauded for not only are resurrecting a musical legacy, but also paying tribute to its legends.
